Today we watched October Sky. We will finish it next week as we have a guest speaker coming in Thursday.
Today's class we focus on finishing what we started last day with our values quizzes and our reflections. We spent the first half of the class in the library and the second starting a movie called October Sky that looks at expectations and motivations.
As for the portfolio you must have posted: 1. The 5 surveys 2. The Identifying my values reflection from our first full class 3. The survey reflection (the questions for these can be found in the last blog post) 4. You also must have shared the link with me so I can see your work. Today we signed onto MyBlueprint at www.myblueprint.ca/sd71
This is where you will create your portfolio that will be added to over your careers 10-12 journey. Today you were to complete the following: 1. Add a portfolio and add a journal entry reflection that you completed on our first day "identifying our values". 2. Complete the five surveys under "Who am I" 3. Complete another reflection to add to your portfolio - see below for what you were asked to write about: Title: Survey Results Reflection Write a paragraph answering these questions: 1. What did you find out about yourself? What was the most surprising thing you discovered? 2. What were your top three jobs listed? Are you interested in these? Were these careers you had thought of before or are they something you may look into further now? Please make sure that you email me your portfolio link - you need to share the portfolio with me. Ask if you have troubles with this. My email is [email protected] Have a great day! Today we talked about our skills. We also looked more into transferable skills, those skills that you learn that can be applied everywhere in life. For example, the ability to analyze in math can serve use well with problem solving in life. For homework, please complete the two worksheets "Identifying Your Skills" and "What are Transferable Skills"
Today we talked about values. Values are different for every person and they are a collection of what each of us find important and what we try to model our behavior around. We want our careers to align with our values, otherwise we will not be as happy as we could be. Please complete the "Identifying Values" worksheet for next class along with a reflection answering the three journal questions on the back page.
